Headcount

1. Context

The data displayed in the Headcount module is used to calculate the carbon footprint of research activities on a full-time equivalent (FTE) basis, and to estimate specific sources of emissions, such as those in the Additional Categories module with its sub-modules on Commuting, Food and Waste.

2. Data collected

The Headcount data includes all individuals working in each unit per calendar year. For each individual, the following information is displayed and visible to the unit manager or their delegate:

  • Surname and First name
  • Registered role (SHIS catalogue from the Federal Statistical Office)
  • SCIPER
  • FTE (full-time equivalents) allocated to the unit.

For individuals affiliated with multiple units, the FTE displayed corresponds to that allocated to the reference unit.

Data relating to students is not fully available in the correct format and must therefore be entered manually. The number of students must be entered as an aggregate value, corresponding to the total FTE of all students in the unit for the reference year, and not individually.
