Note: It is important to bear in mind that the results of a carbon footprint calculation are primarily estimates and orders of magnitude, which must be interpreted with caution. In particular, any comparison between units must be approached with discernment, taking into account the specific characteristics of each research context.
The results provided by the CO₂ calculator tool nevertheless enable the identification and visualisation of the main sources of emissions within a unit. Given the diversity of research activities, these sources of emissions can vary significantly from one unit to another. This highlights the importance of quantifying the carbon footprint at the level of each research unit, in order to obtain an assessment tailored to its operational reality.
This approach then enables the identification of targeted levers for action, specifically tailored to the unit in question, with the aim of effectively reducing its carbon footprint. Depending on the main sources of emissions identified, various measures may be considered.
